MindGarden Learning is based at 6503 Hixson Pike, Suite 105-C, Hixson, TN 37343. If you’re a Hixson homeschool family, you’re already inside our service area. Most of our students come from within a five-mile radius of the program.
That matters because drop-off enrichment only works if the drive is sustainable. Two days a week, twice a day, becomes real fast. We picked the location to make it easy for Hixson families specifically.
Why Hixson families choose MindGarden
The Hixson homeschool community has grown in the last five years and most of the available group programs in this area are explicitly Christian. That’s a great fit for many Hixson families. For others, it’s left a gap.
MindGarden is the secular option. We teach the substance of a Charlotte Mason education (literature, history, nature study, art, music, narration, handicrafts) without religious instruction. Families of every faith background are welcome, including no faith at all. We just keep belief content out of the curriculum so the program works for any family.
The other thing that sets us apart is how the day actually runs. Our teachers are trained in attachment-based developmental practice, which means we don’t use behavior charts, sticker rewards, or shame-based discipline. Programs available to Hixson families
- Roots for ages 0–5: a parent-child co-op that meets one morning per week. $130/month per family. Built around attachment, play, and the natural rhythms of early childhood.
- Seedlings for ages 5–9: two-day drop-off enrichment, Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 2. $215/month per child. The Charlotte Mason “feast of subjects” with a homeschool-companion structure.
- Saplings for ages 9–12: two-day drop-off enrichment, deeper studies in literature, history, science, and writing. Currently a small introductory cohort of 6 students.
- Branches for ages 13–18: a teen guild in development for a future season. Add your family to the interest list.
Two days per week is the homeschool sweet spot for most families. It gives kids the things that are hard to do alone (group discussion, broad subject exposure, social-academic learning) without taking over the rhythm of your week.
Getting to MindGarden from Hixson
If you live in the Hixson area, you’re typically 5–15 minutes from the classroom. We’re on Hixson Pike near the intersection with Highway 153, sharing space with Jungle Fun Center. Plenty of parking, easy drop-off, and you can grab coffee at any of the cafes along Hixson Pike on the way home.
Tennessee homeschool families register with the local school district (Hamilton County for most Hixson families) or with a church-related school as their umbrella. MindGarden doesn’t handle the registration paperwork side. You’re still the homeschooling parent. We’re the enrichment partner.
